Brazil’s Lençóis Maranhenses National Park

Only in this desert the mirage is real.

“But every day, if you look carefully, you’ll see that the sand is in a different place. God created these white mountains and made the wind play with them forever.”

Harbors a coastal dune field that floods during the wet season, January to May. The park’s creamy sand and sparkling water—rains trapped in ribbons of dunes—shelter nesting birds, turtles, and fish.

Between the sea dunes, you have the sensation of floating between white sheets hung in the wind.
